Bit-Maple

Bit-maple is an experimental display face created for ‘typeset‘ which explores the space between the tech and the traditional. Bitmap font meets letterpress print. The face is built from letterpress printed ‘pixels’ — the textured end-grain maple ‘feet’ from 100 pieces of antique wooden type. It is a playful attempt at uniting two seemingly disparate periods in typographic history. Equal amounts pixels and print.
